Public Speaking

I offer talks for events, conferences, and organisations that want something different from the usual motivational speaker or wellness guru. My talks are not about managing life efficiently or beating the odds through sheer positivity or the latest "hack"—they're about facing life’s inherent uncertainties, losses, and contradictions with honesty and depth.

I speak from lived experience. I’ve survived stage 4 colon cancer. I’ve lost a child. I’ve navigated the pain of divorce and the disorientation of redundancy. These aren’t stories of triumph in the conventional sense—they’re stories of disruption. And they’ve taught me something essential: not everything can be fixed, and not every struggle needs a neat conclusion. But we can learn to live in a richer, more fully human way with what remains.

What Makes These Talks Different

These talks don’t follow the usual arc of adversity overcome, mindset mastered, and lessons learned. Instead, they begin in the middle—in the mess, the uncertainty, the contradiction. They’re about learning to live differently in that space.

I speak with honesty, thoughtfulness, and a kind of tenderness for the parts of life we often try to silence. And while the subject matter is deep, I bring humour too—not as a way to deflect, but as a way to stay human in the midst of it all. Years of teaching university students have taught me how to connect with diverse audiences in ways that are both challenging and engaging—and I’ve been humbled to regularly receive 100% satisfaction ratings in student evaluations.
